UNDERSTANDING THE FIGURE WITH DEVIN LOVETT: Westobou's Artist in Residence

Join Westobou's Artist-in-Residence Devin Lovett for five classes to explore the figure and understand how it interacts with space through drawing and painting. In this session students will learn how to: sketch the figure, identify and establish proportions, develop skin tones, and learn how to harness impressionistic techniques to improve their own respective art style. This class will allow students the freedom to understand how they would like to represent their subject while developing a good foundation in figurative art. Students will work from a model the last two classes.

At the end of his residency, Devin Lovett will have a final exhibition of his new artwork at Westobou Gallery, February 3- April 8 2023. The student art created in his class will simultaneously hang in the 3rd floor Creel-Harison Gallery at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, making this an excellent opportunity to be a part of this collaboration!

*Please note classes will be held in historic Ware's Folly on the 3rd floor across from Devin's studio space. The elevator is currently not in service so students will have to use the stairs. Their supplies can be left in the classroom for the duration of the workshop and our staff can help you if needed.

*Model fee is included in the tuition

*Supply list below- please confirm with [email protected] that the class is moving forward before purchasing supplies
