SLAB BUILT TABLEWARE

Building with slabs is an efficient method for constructing walls of cylinders or bases of plates when throwing on the wheel is unavailable or undesirable.  In this class, students will learn effective slab construction tips and tricks and slab assembly methods using simple molds to learn how to make a set of plates, bowls, and mugs. Students will learn which clay bodies are best suited for slab construction as well as how to assist pieces through the drying stage before bisque firing. The supply fee is included in the tuition and covers 22 ½ pounds of clay, tools, glazes and firing.

Ages 16 and up!

Andrea Clark holds a BFA in Ceramics from the University of Kentucky.  Her slab-built tableware is used by Little Sparrow and Beetlecat in Atlanta and The Optimist in Nashville, TN.
