ART TO GO Activity 4
CUBOMANIA
Developed by Surrealist, Gherasim Luca this technique is to create a collage from one picture by putting it back together in an unexpected and interesting way. Surrealism is a 20th century art movement in art and literature that wanted to show the creativity of the unconscious mind. This activity is fun because it allows you to work freely without having to plan out an idea.
- Find an interesting picture from a magazine or use a drawing of your own.
- Take a ruler and create a grid in pencil on top of the image. Make the squares at least 1 1/2 inches x 1 1/2 inches.
- If you don't want to draw the grid - just cut the image up into strips or sections.
- Cut and Paste the pieces back together in a different way on a sheet of paper.
- Create three and see which one you like best.
