ART BOX SERIES: FALLING IN LOVE WITH ART
(Ages 2 – 4 and one accompanying adult)

Using the wonderfully rich, deep colors and textures of fall, little ones will explore the basic fundamentals of art such as color, shape and texture during this four-part series. Young creative spirits will be encouraged in the use of natural components to complete their projects. Children will take home an art notebook that displays their journey into art through the fall season. All supplies will be provided.

MIXED MEDIA MAGIC (Ages 5 – 6) - Laura Umphrey

Young artists will explore a variety of materials as they create whimsical collages and compositions. Projects will make inventive use of everyday materials, recycled and combined with layered paper, fabric, photos, beads, and other interesting items, to achieve art that tells a story or creates a mood. All supplies will be provided.

DRIP, DRIP, SPLATTER, SPLATTER AND MORE (Ages 7 – 9) - Laura Neff

Young students will draw inspiration from Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, and Georgia artist Betsy Cain in this mixed media class. Amazing artwork will evolve using paint and a variety of other materials. Instruction will include design principles such as space, arrangement, and texture. During the final lesson children will work in teams on a pair of projects as they explore line and shape as a means of creative visual communication. All supplies will be provided.

DRAWING AND PAINTING FOR THE HOMESCHOOLED (Ages 6 – 14)  - Cyndy Epps

Students will create art using a variety of media including, but not limited to, pencil, felt tip pen, charcoal, soft pastel, watercolor, tempera, and collage materials. Students will learn to notice differences in shapes and forms, lines, colors, light and dark, texture, balance, variety, symmetry, and space. Art history, aesthetics, appreciation, and production will be the framework guiding the instruction in this comprehensive course. Complexity and progression will be adjusted to the students’ level. Instruction will follow the Discipline-Based Arts Education guidelines and meet National Quality Core Curriculum Standards. All supplies will be provided.
