DRAWING AND EXPLORING THE MAGIC OF COLOR (Ages 9 – 12)  - Kimberly Cannon Fontanez

New and returning students will continue to develop their drawing skills and explore color while using a variety of materials to visually interpret different subjects through painting. Media will include basic drawing materials, watercolor, tempera, and acrylic paints. Students will create compositions with foreground and background and learn to diminish subject matter proportionately. All supplies will be provided.

This course is designed for the more serious and focused art student who wants to develop the skill to create successful and interesting drawings. Instruction and demonstrations will include various techniques for drawing from life and from photographs while exploring materials such as graphite, charcoal pencil, vine charcoal, and various shades of conté crayon. All supplies will be provided.

DRAWING AND PAINTING FOR THE HOMESCHOOLED (Ages 6 – 14)  - Cyndy Epps

Students will create art using a variety of media including, but not limited to, pencil, felt tip pen, charcoal, soft pastel, watercolor, tempera, and collage materials. Students will learn to notice differences in shapes and forms, lines, colors, light and dark, texture, balance, variety, symmetry, and space. Art history, aesthetics, appreciation, and production will be the framework guiding the instruction in this comprehensive course. Complexity and progression will be adjusted to the students’ level. Instruction will follow the Discipline-Based Arts Education guidelines and meet National Quality Core Curriculum Standards. All supplies will be provided.
